A Magistrate Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State has ordered the remand of controversial content creator DJ Chicken at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over an alleged threat against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The court issued the order on Friday after the social media personality was arraigned on a three-count charge involving alleged offences under the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace and making threats to kill.
The charges stem from a viral video in which DJ Chicken allegedly claimed that Seyi Tinubu would not survive to see President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Following the backlash, the content creator publicly withdrew the statement, saying it was intended as a joke to attract attention. Despite the apology, authorities proceeded with his arrest and prosecution.
DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like amount. It ruled that one surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State.
The court also directed that the sureties provide three years of tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. One of the sureties must also be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case was adjourned until August 3, 2026, while DJ Chicken will remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until he meets the bail conditions.
