The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit seeking to invalidate the emergence of Abubakar Malami, (SAN), as the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), governorship candidate in Kebbi State.
Delivering judgment on Tuesday, Justice M. G. Umar ruled that the plaintiff, Abdulrazak Isa Iko, failed to establish that he participated in the party’s primary election and therefore lacked the legal standing to challenge the process.
The court held that the suit was without merit and substance, consequently dismissing it in its entirety.
The ruling effectively clears a major legal hurdle for Malami, leaving his ADC candidacy intact as he prepares for the governorship contest.
Justice Umar also reaffirmed the legal principle that only individuals with the requisite standing can competently challenge the outcome or conduct of a political party’s primary election.
