Nigerian-American forward Chimezie Metu is set for a move to Turkey, with the former NBA and Barcelona player close to completing an agreement with Galatasaray Istanbul.
The 28-year-old attracted interest from several EuroLeague clubs but is expected to join one of the Basketball Champions League title contenders ahead of the new season.
Metu arrives after a strong spell with Gran Canaria, where he played following his return from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in March 2025.
During the 2025/26 season, the experienced frontcourt player averaged 14.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 26 minutes across 12 ACB League appearances, shooting 50 per cent from the field and 36.5 per cent from three-point range.
He scored in double figures in 11 of those matches, including notable displays against Baskonia, Unicaja and Valencia Basket.
Before his injury setback, Metu impressed during his first EuroLeague campaign with Barcelona in 2024/25, averaging 11.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, one assist, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.
He also recorded standout performances against Anadolu Efes and Crvena Zvezda, further boosting his reputation as a reliable frontcourt option.
