Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has applauded the Flying Eagles for their strong performance in their victory against Togo at the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The defending champions booked a place in the semi-finals after securing a convincing 3-0 win over the Sparrow Hawks in Yamoussoukro on Thursday.
After a goalless opening half, Abdu Maikaba’s team stepped up their performance after the break, with Abdumuiz Adeleke scoring twice before substitute Abdoulaye Agbeloye completed the victory.
Chelle, who travelled to Côte d’Ivoire to support the team at the tournament, praised the players for their response and second-half display.
“I was happy with what I saw in the second-half. They played well in the second half, they put a lot of pressure on Togo, got the ball high on the pitch, got a lot of chances to score goals and they did,” Chelle said after the game.
The Flying Eagles will conclude their group stage campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
