A wave of concern has trailed renewed insecurity across Nigeria as several public figures speak out against increasing cases of kidnappings and violent attacks in different parts of the country.
Among those who reacted are actress Biola Adebayo, music producer ID Cabasa, actor Kunle Afod, actress Juliana Olayode, and media personality Kiekie.
Their comments follow the recent abduction of school pupils and teachers in Oyo State by suspected gunmen, an incident that has further heightened public anxiety over safety in schools and communities.
In a video shared online, Biola Adebayo said insecurity has now influenced her professional decisions, noting that she has become reluctant to accept jobs outside Lagos due to safety concerns.
She also highlighted the broader economic strain facing citizens, pointing to rising costs of food and transportation alongside worsening security conditions.
Music producer ID Cabasa criticised what he described as a lack of strong government response to repeated incidents of killings and kidnappings, warning that Nigerians are becoming desensitised to violence.
He urged citizens not to remain silent, stressing that insecurity should not be politicised along ethnic or religious lines.
Actor Kunle Afod also appealed to authorities to intensify efforts to curb kidnapping and violent crimes, noting that many Nigerians now live in fear as such incidents become increasingly frequent.
Juliana Olayode expressed concern over the emotional and psychological toll of insecurity, questioning how many more lives must be affected before decisive action is taken.
Media personality Kiekie added that Nigerians are becoming emotionally exhausted by recurring violent incidents, warning against normalising insecurity in the country.
The reactions have continued to generate discussions online, with many Nigerians echoing calls for improved security measures and stronger protection for vulnerable communities.
