It took less than a minute, but it has left Nairobi’s Westlands business community on edge.
Four armed men riding two motorcycles stormed into Chaiiwali Restaurant along General Mathenge Road on Saturday night, brandishing pistols and robbing terrified customers of seven mobile phones and a laptop. The attackers then fired shots into the air before fleeing towards Parklands.
The incident is the latest in a growing wave of robberies carried out by motorcycle-riding gangs that strike within seconds and disappear into Nairobi’s traffic before police can respond.
The entire robbery was captured on CCTV, and detectives are now appealing to the public for information that could help identify and arrest the suspects.
