Brazil midfielder Casemiro was emotional following his side’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star spoke after Brazil suffered a 2-1 defeat to Norway in their Round of 16 clash on Sunday.
He admitted that Carlo Ancelotti’s squad had fallen short of expectations and said the team would be remembered as one that failed to deliver a World Cup triumph for the nation.
“It’s difficult. I only want to be with my family. We did our best, but we lost our dream… we disappointed all Brazilians,” Casemiro said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano via CazéTV.
“We will always be the generation that didn’t win the World Cup.”
Norway advanced to the next round thanks to a brace from Erling Haaland, while Neymar’s effort was not enough to keep Brazil in the tournament.
