The Government of Canada has updated its travel advisory for Kenya, maintaining the country under its “exercise a high degree of caution” advisory while warning against travel to specific parts of the country over security concerns.
Canada is advising its citizens to exercise a high degree of caution when travelling to Kenya. It also recommends avoiding all travel to parts of Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Lamu, Turkana, Marsabit, Tana River and Kilifi counties, citing security concerns in areas bordering Somalia, South Sudan and Ethiopia, as well as selected coastal areas.
The advisory also recommends avoiding non-essential travel to Eastleigh, Kibera and Pangani in Nairobi, citing high crime and the threat of terrorism. Canada’s overall advisory for Kenya remains “exercise a high degree of caution.”
