Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has criticised the music industry over what he described as a lack of support from fellow artistes following the release of his latest single, Chanel.
The rapper, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, shared his frustration in a post on X, where he accused colleagues of ignoring his music despite his efforts to promote their projects online.
According to Blaqbonez, he frequently supports other musicians by sharing their songs on his social media pages whenever they release new music. However, he claimed the same energy is rarely returned.
The ‘Chanel’ crooner said none of his peers had promoted the song since it dropped, a situation he described as disappointing.
“I think this [music] industry is very wicked because since I dropped Chanel, none of my peers have posted it,” he wrote.
Blaqbonez also referenced international artistes including Drake, Central Cee, Future and Gunna, saying he had recently supported their releases online.
“@Drake I posted yours last week, @centralcee @1future @1GunnaGunna I support you when you drop but when I put out the biggest song of the summer it’s crickets, the double standards,” he added.
The comments have sparked conversations among fans on social media about competition, loyalty and mutual support within the Nigerian music industry.
Blaqbonez has previously voiced concerns about practices in the entertainment industry. In 2023, he alleged that some artistes used streaming farms to artificially boost music streams and manipulate chart performance.
Although some industry figures disagreed with his claims at the time, the rapper maintained that stream manipulation remains a major issue affecting the credibility of the Nigerian music scene.
