Afrobeats singer Bella Shmurda has described music as more than a form of entertainment, portraying it as a powerful force for social influence and personal transformation.
Speaking in the For Bunmi documentary, the artist emphasised the broader role music plays in society, noting that it can shape emotions, inspire change and provide relief during difficult times.
According to him, music serves as a tool for progress and goodwill, helping individuals maintain mental balance while offering an escape from everyday struggles. He added that it can uplift listeners, improve their mood and create a sense of awareness and vitality.
Beyond its emotional impact, Bella Shmurda characterised music as a form of “warfare,” suggesting it can be used to challenge societal issues and drive conversations that matter.
The singer also spoke about how becoming a father has influenced his approach to his craft. He explained that parenthood has made him more intentional about the kind of content he produces.
Now, he said, he considers how his children might perceive his work in the future, aiming to create music they can take pride in as they grow older.
