Spanish giants FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign winger Anthony Gordon in a deal worth more than €80m including add-ons.
The agreement includes a fixed fee of €70m, with additional payments expected to take the final package beyond €80m after the bid was accepted by Newcastle’s board and Saudi owners.
Gordon is now expected to travel to Barcelona on Thursday to undergo a medical and complete contract-signing formalities ahead of the move to the Camp Nou.
The England international finished the 2025 season as Newcastle’s top scorer with 18 goals across all competitions. Despite signing a long-term contract extension at St James’ Park in October 2024, with four years still remaining on the deal, speculation over his future intensified in recent weeks.
Gordon was also left unused on the bench during Newcastle’s final four matches of the season, with reports suggesting the club wanted to avoid any injury concerns before a potential transfer.
German champions Bayern Munich had also shown strong interest in signing the former Everton FC winger earlier this month.
Reports said Bayern wanted to strengthen an attacking squad already featuring England captain Harry Kane alongside former Premier League players Michael Olise and Luis Diaz.
However, Barcelona have moved quickly to secure Gordon’s signature before the FIFA Club World Cup, with the transfer now entering its final stages.
