Nigerian businessman Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as B-Lord, has advised singles to avoid rushing into marriage, urging them to wait until they are both financially and emotionally prepared.
Speaking during an appearance on the Adult Gist podcast, B-Lord said many young people feel pressured to marry because of societal expectations and comparisons with their peers, often before they are ready for the responsibilities that come with marriage.
According to him, marriage should never be viewed as a personal achievement or a milestone that must be reached within a particular timeframe.
He encouraged young people to take their time in choosing a life partner, warning that hasty decisions could lead to regret and marital breakdown.
B-Lord also urged men to treat women with respect, reminding them that the way they treat other people’s daughters could one day be reflected in how others treat their own daughters.
He offered similar advice to women, encouraging them to treat men with the same level of respect they would hope their sons receive in the future.
The businessman stressed that no one should feel compelled to marry because of external pressure, adding that relationships built on haste are often difficult to sustain.
“Don’t rush to marry. Take your time and make a good choice for a life partner,” he said.
B-Lord further noted that age should not determine when a person gets married, urging singles to prioritise compatibility and long-term happiness over societal timelines.
He added that ending a marriage can be particularly difficult, especially when children are involved, making it important to make thoughtful decisions before committing to a lifelong union.
