Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi on his 61st birthday, describing him as a patriot whose years of public service continue to inspire Nigerians.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, was born on May 27, 1965, in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
“Happy Birthday to my brother and fellow patriot, H.E. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.”
Atiku praised Amaechi’s role in public service, saying his contributions to Rivers State and Nigeria had earned admiration across the country.
“Your courage, conviction, and years of service to Rivers State and Nigeria continue to inspire many across the nation.”
The former vice-president also wished Amaechi good health and strength for continued service to the country.
“I wish you good health, strength, and many more years of impactful service to our dear country.”
Atiku and Amaechi are both contenders for the 2027 presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress alongside Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, former managing director of the defunct FSB International Bank.
The party conducted a nationwide direct presidential primary poll on Monday, with results from 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory already announced.
Atiku is currently leading in the exercise after securing victories in several states, including Borno, Kano, Oyo, Adamawa, Sokoto and Anambra.
However, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen have rejected the outcome of the primary, alleging widespread voter disenfranchisement and electoral malpractice.
Amaechi described the announced figures as “concocted”, insisting he would not accept results from a process that failed to reflect the values promised by the party.
Hayatu-Deen also rejected the outcome, saying the exercise did not meet standards of fairness and transparency.
