Nigerian singer Asake is leading Apple Music Nigeria charts as songs from his new album M$NEY take several top spots.
The 13 track album was released on May 1 across streaming platforms. It includes songs like ‘Worship’, ‘Why Love’, ‘Gratitude’, and ‘Amen’. Data from Apple Music Nigeria shows that several tracks from the project are among the most-played songs in the country, with ‘Worship’ featuring DJ Snake holding the top position at the time of reporting.
M$NEY features a mix of solo songs and collaborations. Guest artistes include Tiakola and Kabza De Small. The album continues Asake’s pattern of blending Afrobeats with Amapiano influences.
Since its release, listeners have pushed multiple tracks from the album into the Apple Music Top Songs chart in Nigeria. This adds to the singer’s run of chart-topping projects since his debut album in 2022.
There has also been debate online around the song ‘Amen’. Some listeners say parts of the lyrics reflect current political conditions in Nigeria, while others say the message centres on personal growth and belief. The discussions have not slowed down streaming activity.
Asake gained early attention with ‘Lady’ in 2020 and ‘Mr Money’ in 2021, but his rise picked up in 2022 with ‘Omo Ope’ featuring Olamide. The release of the Ololade Asake EP that year increased his reach, while ‘Sungba’, including a remix with Burna Boy, helped cement his place in the mainstream.
