Arsenal’s pursuit of Newcastle United captain, Bruno Guimarães is entering a crucial phase, with the midfielder seeking clarity over his future before returning to pre-season training.
The Brazil international remains Mikel Arteta’s top midfield target, with the Gunners viewing him as a player who can bring leadership, Premier League experience and composure alongside Declan Rice and Martín Zubimendi.
However, negotiations remain complicated due to a major difference in valuation between the two clubs.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to test Newcastle’s resolve with an offer in the region of £70 million and believe a deal could eventually be reached for around £80 million.
Newcastle, though, are standing firm and consider Guimarães to be worth at least £100 million after already losing key players this summer. The Magpies are unwilling to weaken their squad further without receiving a significant fee.
According to TEAMtalk, Guimarães has informed his representatives that he wants his situation resolved within the next week before reporting back for Newcastle’s pre-season programme.
Despite his interest in a potential move, the midfielder has no plans to force an exit or damage his relationship with Newcastle. He is expected to return to training and maintain a professional approach.
That stance leaves Arsenal needing to negotiate directly with Newcastle rather than relying on player pressure to lower the asking price, as both clubs face a decision over whether to push forward with talks or end the uncertainty.
