Just three English clubs have achieved the feat of winning both the domestic league title and the European Cup or UEFA Champions League in the same season.
Those sides are Liverpool F.C. in 1976-77 and 1983-84, Manchester United F.C. in 1998-99 and 2007-08, and Manchester City F.C. in 2022-23.
Newly crowned Premier League champions Arsenal F.C. now have the opportunity to join that elite group when they take on Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in Saturday’s Champions League final in Budapest.
Arsenal reached the final after eliminating Atletico Madrid, while PSG advanced at the expense of FC Bayern Munich.
The French champions are also chasing history, aiming to become the first side outside Real Madrid CF to successfully defend the Champions League title since the competition was rebranded in 1992-93.
Real Madrid previously achieved the feat by winning the tournament three consecutive times between 2015-16 and 2017-18.
