Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has disclosed why she chose to burn the outfit she wore to the burial of late actor Alex Ekubo.
The actress shared the revelation on her official Instagram page, where she posted a photo of the outfit and explained the reason behind her action.
According to Okorie, the decision was based on advice she received from her godmother, who taught her that clothing worn to funerals should not be kept after the burial ceremony.
She said the practice is one she believes in and felt compelled to share with her followers, family, and friends.
“This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to have the cloth you wore to a burial around you; you burn them. So family and friends take note. I felt I should share this information,” she wrote.
The actress also offered prayers for long life and good health, reflecting on the fragility of life in the wake of the actor’s passing.
“May the Lord keep and bless us with long life. Amen. Chai,” she added.
Her comments have sparked conversations online about cultural and personal beliefs surrounding funeral traditions, with some social media users sharing similar practices observed in their families and communities.
