Ruben Amorim is reportedly in line to take over as Benfica manager this summer following Jose Mourinho’s expected departure, Goal reports.
The 41-year-old has been without a coaching role since leaving Manchester United in January and is now poised to revive his career in Portugal.
Despite a difficult spell in the Premier League, Amorim remains highly regarded in his home country after enjoying success with Sporting CP.
Benfica are said to have identified him as their leading choice as Mourinho prepares for a move to Real Madrid.
Mourinho guided Benfica to a third-place finish this season, securing Europa League qualification while remaining unbeaten throughout the campaign.
