Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, better known as Falz, has advised young people not to rush into marriage before the age of 30, saying the decision should come after attaining greater emotional, financial and mental maturity.
Speaking during a recent episode of The BTS Reality Podcast, the award-winning entertainer argued that many people spend their 20s discovering themselves and may not yet be fully prepared for the demands of marriage.
According to Falz, societal expectations and peer pressure often push individuals into settling down too early, even when they are not ready.
He encouraged singles to resist external pressure and instead use their 20s to build their careers, gain life experience and enjoy personal growth.
“Getting married in your 30s is the best. Don’t let anyone pressure you into getting married before 30. By your 30s, you have gained more life experiences. In your 20s, you are still figuring yourself out. Your 20s are for learning, growing, and enjoying life,” he said.
The rapper added that people are generally better equipped to make significant life decisions after accumulating more experience.
“In your 30s, you combine all the knowledge and try to direct your life. So, it is better to wait till your 30s before getting married,” he added.
Falz has often shared his views on issues affecting young Nigerians, including personal development, governance and social responsibility. While he has remained largely private about his own romantic life, the entertainer has consistently encouraged young people to make life decisions based on readiness rather than societal expectations.
His latest remarks have added to ongoing conversations about marriage timelines, with many people increasingly questioning traditional expectations around when to settle down.
