The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Kwara State, Bolakale Kawu, has denied any connection with a viral video alleging the use of ritual activities in relation to his 2027 governorship ambition.
In a statement issued by his media office, Kawu described the claims as false and an attempt to damage his reputation, insisting that he has no relationship with the individual featured in the video or the actions attributed to him.
The controversy followed the circulation of a social media video involving Alhaji Saheed Ishola, also known as LogunOfe, whose comments and alleged activities were linked by some reports to political ambitions ahead of the 2027 election.
Kawu’s media office said the PDP candidate neither authorised nor approved anyone to make statements or engage in activities of such nature on his behalf.
It stated that Ishola does not represent Kawu, his campaign organisation or the PDP candidate in any capacity.
The statement also rejected earlier allegations that some party supporters visited a shrine in Ogun State to seek spiritual intervention against opponents of Kawu and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
The media office described Kawu as a committed Muslim whose faith does not support ritual or fetish practices, adding that his political aspiration is based on service and good governance rather than personal ambition.
According to the statement, Kawu’s goal is to provide purposeful leadership, improve security, rebuild public confidence and promote development across Kwara State.
The PDP candidate’s team urged members of the public to disregard attempts to associate him with the alleged activities, describing them as politically motivated.
It added that Kawu remains committed to an issue-based campaign focused on integrity, respect for democratic values and the welfare of residents.
