Lagos State has taken a major step towards diversifying its energy sector with the launch of the Oshodi Integrated Energy Hub, a multi-purpose facility designed to provide different energy solutions from a single location.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who inaugurated the project on Friday, described the facility as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s energy development and part of efforts to build modern infrastructure that supports economic growth.
The hub, operated by the Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC), combines petrol, diesel, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), electric vehicle charging services and CNG vehicle conversion facilities.
Sanwo-Olu said the project reflects his administration’s THEMES Plus Agenda and responds to the changing needs of Nigeria’s energy sector by providing residents, businesses and transport operators with more affordable and diverse energy options.
He said the initiative is aimed at expanding access to alternative fuels, promoting cleaner transportation, creating employment opportunities and reducing mobility costs for Lagos residents and businesses.
According to the governor, improved access to affordable energy will enhance productivity, strengthen commercial activities and support economic competitiveness across the state.
The Managing Director of IOGC, Temitayo Gbajumo, said the energy hub represents the outcome of collaboration and a shared commitment to building a sustainable energy system in Lagos.
He disclosed that the corporation currently operates 18 retail filling stations, eight LPG plants, four LPG skids, five operational CNG refilling stations, with 12 more under development, as well as four CNG conversion centres that have converted more than 300 vehicles.
Gbajumo added that the company’s electric vehicle charging facility is part of plans to support the growth of electric mobility in the state.
