Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved the disbursement of ₦25 million to support the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu.
The payment was made directly to the hospital where the actress is receiving care, according to the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins.
JMartins announced the development in a post shared on his official X account on Thursday, revealing that the governor authorised the payment before the close of business on Wednesday.
According to him, the intervention fulfilled Governor Otti’s earlier promise to assist the veteran actress with her medical expenses.
He expressed gratitude to the governor for honouring the commitment, describing the gesture as an act of compassion and support for one of Nollywood’s respected figures.
The latest payment follows an earlier announcement by JMartins on Tuesday that Governor Otti had approved the first phase of financial assistance after reports emerged about Nwosu’s health challenges and the need for urgent medical care.
Ngozi Nwosu is regarded as one of Nollywood’s pioneering actresses, with a career spanning decades across film and television productions. She has earned widespread recognition for her contributions to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
