Brighton forward Danny Welbeck is close to completing a move to Chelsea after agreeing personal terms with the Premier League club.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker is expected to undergo medical examinations before finalising a two-year contract with the Blues.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has reportedly approved the transfer as he looks to bring more experience into his squad ahead of the new season.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on X, writing: “Danny Welbeck to Chelsea, here we go! Deal in place with Brighton for the English striker.
“Welbeck agreed terms with Chelsea until 2028, medical next; Brighton approved decision to let him go after formal request from Danny.”
