Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has achieved another milestone as his collaboration with global music icon Shakira, ‘Dai Dai’, becomes the highest-charting World Cup song in Billboard Hot 100 history.
The song climbed 25 places this week to reach a new peak of No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Shakira and Freshlyground’s 2010 World Cup anthem, ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’.
‘Dai Dai’ also recorded strong performance on the Canadian Hot 100, where it reached No. 3, while it continues its push for the top position on the UK Official Singles Chart.
The achievement adds to Burna Boy’s growing list of international successes, further strengthening the global presence of Nigerian music.
Meanwhile, Billboard has announced the discontinuation of its World Digital Song Sales chart, with the final edition published on June 27, 2026.
The chart previously tracked some of the most commercially successful songs from regions including Nigeria, Asia, the Caribbean, and South Africa.
Several Nigerian artistes, including Wizkid, Mr Eazi, and Rema, had previously topped the ranking during its existence.
Burna Boy’s latest milestone places him among Nigerian artistes who have continued to expand Afrobeats’ influence on major global music platforms.
