The Delta State Government has ordered security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute those behind the violent attack on a resident, Simon Mudi, in Effurun, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the government was alarmed by videos of the assault circulating on social media, noting that the violence does not reflect the peaceful values of the state.
He said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has zero tolerance for mob violence and any form of lawlessness, warning that all those involved will face the full weight of the law.
Aniagwu added that security agencies have been directed to conduct a thorough investigation, identify everyone captured in the viral footage and other available evidence, and ensure they are prosecuted.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives, maintaining public order and preserving peace across the state.
