Nollywood actress Scarlet Gomez has shared a touching account of a man whose quiet acts of kindness helped her through a difficult period in her life, saying she still hopes to reconnect with him years later.
In a post on Instagram, the actress reflected on meeting the man in 2010 while they lived in the same neighbourhood around Eric Manuel, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos. She said they also attended Petra Church together.
According to Gomez, the man regularly took her to Olaiya in Surulere after Sunday church services to buy her amala with assorted meat. Initially, she questioned his intentions because she was not used to receiving such generosity from men without expecting something in return.
However, she said he never made any romantic advances and continued showing concern for her well-being over the next two years. Beyond taking her out for meals, he also checked on her regularly and ensured she had food even when he was unavailable.
The actress revealed that she later realized the man had been helping her at a time when she was facing financial hardship.
Although they eventually lost contact, Gomez said she has been trying to find him but cannot remember his name or exact address.
Expressing gratitude, she prayed for God’s blessings upon him and said she hopes they will meet again someday. She also encouraged her followers to appreciate people who offer help without expecting anything in return, explaining that the memory resurfaced during a conversation with her personal assistant about selfless acts of kindness.
The emotional post has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users sharing similar experiences and reflecting on the importance of generosity and gratitude.
Meanwhile, Gomez has announced plans to attempt a Guinness World Record for the largest film audience in Nigeria during the premiere of her movie, Black Market.
The premiere is scheduled for September 26, 2026, at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, where organizers expect about 50,000 attendees in a bid to set a new record.
