Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has reunited with Colombian singer Shakira during rehearsals ahead of their performance at the FIFA World Cup final halftime show scheduled for Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
The reunion came after Burna Boy shared a video on his X account showing the pair embracing and smiling during rehearsals. He posted the clip ahead of the World Cup final, where they are expected to perform the tournament’s official anthem, Dai Dai, during FIFA’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show.
Sharing the video, Burna Boy wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go ❤️🔥⚽️! 🇳🇬”
The video also showed Burna Boy and Shakira exchanging hugs outside production trailers at the stadium as they prepared for the performance.
FIFA had earlier announced that Burna Boy and Shakira would headline the tournament’s inaugural halftime show with a performance of Dai Dai, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The duo previously performed the song during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City.
To accommodate the entertainment segment, the traditional halftime interval is expected to be extended to about 30 minutes. The break will include the usual match analysis alongside an 11-minute musical performance led by Burna Boy and Shakira.
Other artistes and performers billed for the halftime show include BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay, while characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets are also expected to make appearances.
FIFA said the halftime show will also support global education initiatives for children.
The FIFA World Cup final will see Argentina face Spain on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
