A new memoir from former president of the United States, Joe Biden, will revisit some of the defining moments of his presidency, including global conflicts, domestic challenges and his decision to end his 2024 re-election bid.
Biden announced the forthcoming publication on Wednesday, while revealing that his cancer treatment is progressing well.
Biden made the disclosure in a video shared on his X account, where he thanked supporters for their concerns about his health.
“I’m dealing with a cancer diagnosis, and I’ve been getting treatment, and it’s been going really well”, the 83-year-old said.
Biden revealed in May 2025, four months after leaving office as the oldest sitting US president, that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. He later began radiation therapy.
His memoir, titled “Promise Me, America”, will focus on major events during his 2021–2025 presidency, including the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, the war in Ukraine and the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
The book will also examine why he chose to seek a second term in 2024 and why he eventually stepped aside following pressure from Democrats and a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.
Trump later defeated Biden’s replacement candidate, former Vice President Kamala Harris, in the election.
The memoir is scheduled for release on November 17, 2026, shortly after the US midterm elections.
