Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has described motherhood as the defining moment that transformed her life, saying it ushered in a season of greater fulfilment and gratitude.
In a post shared on Instagram, the actress reflected on her personal journey as she welcomed her birth month, expressing appreciation to God for what she described as countless blessings.
Shokoya, whose birthday falls on July 19, said she approaches each day with the mindset of celebrating life while remaining committed to personal development through continuous learning, unlearning and relearning.
She also spoke about the importance of staying authentic despite what she sees as increasing noise and insincerity around her.
According to the actress, remaining true to herself has become a conscious choice, even in an environment where she believes authenticity is often lacking.
Shokoya further reflected on her resilience, admitting that her ability to overcome challenges sometimes leaves her surprised by her own strength.
She acknowledged that her outspoken nature and honesty may not appeal to everyone, adding that she has come to accept that not everyone will admire or embrace her personality.
Rather than seeking universal approval, the actress said she is learning to pay less attention to the opinions of others and focus her energy on issues that genuinely deserve her response.
“My best life started after motherhood,” she wrote, adding that no amount of praise would be enough to express her gratitude to God for the blessings she has received.
