Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries and one of Nigeria’s foremost Christian filmmakers, has announced that Agbara Nla: The Return, a reimagined version of his 1993 faith-based classic Agbara Nla, will premiere in cinemas nationwide on October 1.
Bamiloye disclosed the release date in an Instagram post accompanied by the film’s trailer, describing the project as a modern retelling of a movie that left a lasting impact on Nigeria’s Christian film landscape more than three decades ago.
Reflecting on the original production, he wrote: “AGBARA NLA (1993)… Who Remember the experiences then? That was 33 Years ago. And the English Version: THE ULTIMATE POWER came up in 1994 and spread across the Eastern Nigeria starting from Edo.”
Announcing the remake, he added: “Now coming up, remade and repackaged in higher grade. Coming to CINEMA, October 1st.
“Prophetically…For the Deliverance of….MUWONLERU….!”
Originally released in 1993, Agbara Nla, also known as The Ultimate Power, became one of Africa’s most influential Christian films, earning a devoted following across Nigeria and beyond.
The film explored themes of spiritual warfare, portraying the battle between good and evil through depictions of witchcraft, occult practices and demonic forces, while emphasising faith, prayer, evangelism, and the virtues of submission and obedience in marriage and ministry.
Agbara Nla: The Return revisits the iconic storyline for a new generation of viewers while preserving its central message of the supremacy of divine power over evil.
The remake is directed by Damilola Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye and features Mike Bamiloye reprising his role as Isawuru. The cast also includes Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Bamiloye as Kola, and Aanu Kolade Abiodun as Bose.
The production is a collaboration between Mount Zion Film Productions, Circuits and Sozo Films. Chris Odeh serves as producer, while Mohammed Sedik and Damilola Bamiloye are co-producers. Blue Pictures Distribution will oversee the film’s nationwide cinema release.
Founded in 1985 by Mike and Gloria Bamiloye, Mount Zion Faith Ministries has grown into one of Nigeria’s most prominent faith-based production houses, producing hundreds of stage plays and films, including Abejoye, Abattoir and The Train.
