Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has set a new milestone on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the African artist with the highest number of entries on the prestigious U.S. chart.
The achievement sees Burna Boy move ahead of fellow Nigerian star Tems, with whom he was previously tied at eight chart appearances.
The record was secured through Dai Dai, his collaboration with Shakira, which debuted at No. 75 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.
With the latest entry, Burna Boy’s total rises to nine, establishing a new benchmark for African artists on the chart.
The track gained additional attention following a live performance by Burna Boy and Shakira during the opening ceremony of the World Cup, helping to boost its visibility among global audiences.
Beyond the new record, Burna Boy has also extended another notable achievement, becoming the first African artist to register at least one Billboard Hot 100 entry in six consecutive years.
His Billboard Hot 100 appearances span several releases and collaborations, including Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), and Only You and Dai Dai (2026).
The latest milestone further strengthens Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s most commercially successful and globally recognised music stars, as Afrobeats continues to expand its influence across international charts and audiences.
