VMO Aero has provided additional details regarding an occurrence involving one of its aircraft during a flight from Lagos to Asaba on June 10, 2026.
In a statement signed by its Accountable Manager, Oluwaseun Ayodeji, the company said the aircraft departed Lagos and, during its initial approach into Asaba Airport at about 7:43a.m. local time, the flight crew determined that the approach parameters were not within the required limits for a safe landing.
The aircraft involved was a Bombardier Challenger CL-601 business jet with registration N989BC. Aviation industry sources said the aircraft is on lease in Nigeria from Best Aircraft Deals LLC, a U.S.-based aviation brokerage and aircraft services firm involved in aircraft sales and acquisitions.

The company said it is engaging with the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and other relevant authorities to support a comprehensive review of the occurrence and the implementation of any necessary corrective actions.
It confirmed that there were no injuries to any persons, no damage to property and that the aircraft subsequently returned safely to Lagos.
VMO Aero said it appreciates the seriousness with which the authorities view any event that could affect the integrity of flight operations and regulatory compliance, and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to members of the public.
The company reiterated its commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, operational responsibility and professional accountability, while pledging continued cooperation with the relevant authorities as efforts continue to establish all the facts surrounding the occurrence.
