I’m Former presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied rumours of a political alliance with President Bola Tinubu, saying his loyalty remains with his coalition and supporters.
Speaking during a television interview, Kwankwaso dismissed the speculation as false and politically motivated.
“Only fools will believe that we are working for Tinubu. My supporters and I are working for the NDC and for what we believe will benefit Nigerians”, he said.
The former Kano State governor explained that although he has known President Bola Tinubu for many years, it does not mean they share the same political ideology. “We have known each other for a long time, but we belong to different political groups”, he stated.
Kwankwaso also accused some of the president’s associates of failing to give him accurate information about the state of the country.
“Instead of addressing economic and security problems facing Nigerians, some people around the president are focused on convincing governors and politicians to join the APC”, he said.
On his alliance with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Kwankwaso said the coalition emerged after wide consultations and political discussions.
“We looked at the situation carefully and agreed that Obi was the most suitable candidate from the South”, he said.
He added that the coalition still has enough time before the 2027 election to engage Nigerians and counter misinformation.
“Our aim is to provide better leadership and give Nigerians another option in dealing with the country’s current challenges”, Kwankwaso stated.
