Global music star Shakira has released “Dai Dai,” the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026, featuring Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy in a high-profile international collaboration.
The Colombian singer announced the release on social media, describing the moment as the beginning of the tournament’s official musical journey.
“Dai Dai is here. The @FIFAWorldCup 2026 starts now!” she wrote, as the track was simultaneously rolled out across major streaming platforms.
FIFA confirmed the release through Sony Music Latin, noting that the anthem is now available globally as part of the official World Cup music lineup.
The song blends motivational themes of resilience, ambition, and unity, while paying tribute to some of football’s most iconic figures, including Pelé, Diego Maradona, Paolo Maldini, Romário, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, David Beckham, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Mohamed Salah.
It also highlights several footballing nations such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, England, Germany, France, South Africa, Spain, Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands.
Beyond its celebratory tone, “Dai Dai” carries a humanitarian focus. FIFA confirmed that all royalties from the track will be directed to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which is targeting $100 million to improve access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.
Shakira has also pledged her personal royalties to the initiative, while Sony Music has committed to matching the first $250,000 raised.
The release marks Shakira’s return to World Cup music after her earlier global hits “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010 and “La La La” in 2014.
For Nigeria, the collaboration is particularly significant as Burna Boy becomes only the second Nigerian artist featured on an official World Cup anthem, following Davido’s contribution to “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” in 2022.
The buildup to the tournament has also seen Nigerian artist Rema announced as a headliner for the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles on June 12, while Shakira is set to co-headline the first-ever halftime show at the World Cup final on July 19.
“Dai Dai” joins a growing list of tracks on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack, with more releases expected as anticipation builds for the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
