Rangers forward Godwin Obaje has reclaimed the leading position in the Nigeria Premier Football League scoring chart following another impressive display for the club.
The veteran striker netted twice in Rangers’ hard-fought 2-1 win against Bendel Insurance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu on Sunday.
With the brace, Obaje has now taken his tally to 14 league goals for the Flying Antelopes this season.
The 30-year-old is also closing in on a major milestone, sitting just one goal short of reaching 100 goals in the Nigerian top flight.
Obaje previously finished as the NPFL’s highest scorer in 2016 after recording 18 goals during the campaign.
Remo Stars striker Victor Mbaoma and Ikorodu City’s Joseph Arumala remain strong challengers in the race for the golden boot, with both players currently on 13 goals this season.
