Mustapha Sule Lamido, son of a former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has entered the 2027 governorship race after picking the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking shortly after obtaining the form and holding consultations with party stakeholders in Dutse, Lamido said he had concluded all necessary engagements and was now seeking the party’s mandate to contest the election.
“We are PDP card-carrying members, and we believe in our party’s philosophy, strength, and resilience to tackle its internal challenges,” he said while addressing party leaders and supporters.
The governorship aspirant expressed confidence that the PDP remained the most viable platform to address Jigawa’s socio-economic challenges if returned to power.
“We have confidence in our party, and we believe the people of Jigawa and Nigerians believe in it as well,” he added, insisting that public trust in the PDP remains intact.
Lamido argued that no other political party has matched the PDP’s record in delivering people-oriented projects and programmes, saying parties that succeeded it in government had fallen short of expectations.
“All other political parties that got power after the PDP have failed woefully,” he said, citing what he described as poor leadership at the national level.
He further accused the current administration of worsening the country’s social, economic and security conditions through ineffective policies.
The PDP aspirant appealed to party members across Jigawa State to rally behind his candidacy ahead of the 2027 polls, pledging to uphold the party’s core values of patriotism and service.
Lamido said his ambition was driven by a commitment to restore effective governance and rebuild public confidence in leadership.
