Senator representing Abia South, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has officially left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Labour Party (LP), according to party officials in Abia State.
The announcement was made by the Labour Party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Emenike Iroegbu, who confirmed that the senator had formally aligned with the party structure.
Abaribe’s latest political move adds to a long record of party transitions spanning his decades in public office. His exit from the ADC comes only months after he joined the party in December last year, following his departure from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), under which he secured reelection in the 2023 general elections.
The senator is currently serving his fifth term representing Abia South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
His brief stay in the ADC further highlights the fluid nature of political affiliations in recent months, as several lawmakers and prominent politicians continue to realign ahead of future political contests.
At the time of filing this report, Abaribe had not issued any personal statement confirming or addressing the latest defection.
