Manchester City’s Premier League title hopes suffered a major setback after they were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Everton on Merseyside.
City needed a 97th-minute equaliser from Jérémy Doku to salvage a point after surrendering control in a chaotic second half. The Belgian had earlier given Pep Guardiola’s side the lead with a superb first-half finish, putting them in a strong position.
However, Everton mounted a stunning comeback after the break. Thierno Barry capitalised on a defensive error to level in the 68th minute before Jake O’Brien headed the hosts in front from a corner just five minutes later. Barry then struck again soon after to give Everton a commanding 3-1 lead.
Erling Haaland quickly responded to reduce the deficit, and Doku’s late curling effort ensured City avoided defeat.
Despite the comeback, the result leaves City five points behind leaders Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand. However, the draw means the title race is no longer in their control, with Arsenal able to secure the title by winning their remaining matches.
