The commencement of President Bola Tinubu’s diplomatic tour of France, Kenya and Rwanda has been postponed by a day, the Presidency confirmed on Saturday.
The update was disclosed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who confirmed the revised schedule in a brief statement.
The President was initially expected to depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, but will now begin the trip on Sunday following a last-minute adjustment to his official itinerary.
Tinubu is expected to begin the tour in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11 to 12.
The summit, which will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, is expected to focus on issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action and reforms to the global financial system.
Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum slated for May 14 to 15, where business leaders and policymakers are expected to discuss investment, economic growth and regional integration across Africa.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu’s participation in the meetings is aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic ties with African countries and France, while also promoting ongoing economic reforms targeted at attracting foreign investment.
