Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has refuted claims that she ignored Fuji star Wasiu Pasuma at a recent social gathering, describing a viral video circulating online as misleading.
The controversy followed the circulation of a short clip from actress Fathia Balogun’s birthday celebration. In the edited footage, Akindele was seen greeting Balogun while Pasuma sat nearby, prompting allegations that she deliberately snubbed the musician.
Reacting to the claims on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Akindele dismissed the narrative, stating that she acknowledged Pasuma during the event.
“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, and danced with him. Pasuma is my egbon. Pls you all should stop this,” she wrote.
A longer version of the video from the event has since surfaced, appearing to contradict the initial claim. The extended footage shows Akindele standing close to Pasuma, interacting with him before moving on to greet other guests.
The clarification comes amid recent public scrutiny involving the actress, following similar claims linked to an earlier event appearance.
Akindele’s response underscores concerns about the spread of edited content on social media and its role in shaping public perception of events.
