Media personality Robert Ekpo has dismissed a cease-and-desist notice issued by his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, describing her demand for N100 million in damages as excessive and without merit.
Ekpo’s response, delivered through TAP Legal Services and shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, came a day after Lambe’s legal representatives made their notice public.
The reply, dated April 23 and signed by legal counsel M. M. Obono, was addressed to Chinedu Nwaneli of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation. In the document, Ekpo denied all allegations against him and objected to claims that his statements were false, malicious, or defamatory.
According to the letter, the comments in question were based on Ekpo’s personal experiences and his understanding of events. It maintained that he did not act with intent to harm Lambe’s reputation.
His legal team argued that the dispute arises from a complex relationship, warning against what they described as a selective presentation of facts aimed at creating a misleading narrative.
They also faulted the N100 million damages claim, calling it premature, and criticised the three-day ultimatum given to Ekpo as unreasonable in a case involving contested facts.
The letter further stated that Ekpo possesses documentary and testimonial evidence, including communication records, which he believes contradict Lambe’s claims. It added that such materials would be presented at the appropriate time if the matter proceeds.
In addition, Ekpo’s lawyers warned of possible counterclaims, noting that he is prepared to defend himself in court and may pursue legal action over alleged harassment, intimidation, and reputational damage.
The response also indicated that aspects of Lambe’s notice could serve as evidence in a potential petition to United States authorities, specifically the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Despite the escalating legal exchange, Ekpo signalled openness to a lawful resolution but insisted he would not be pressured into concessions.
The dispute follows Ekpo’s recent appearance on “The Honest Bunch” podcast, where he made several allegations about Lambe, including claims related to their marriage, finances, and personal decisions during their time together.
In her response, Lambe’s legal team stated that their traditional marriage had already been dissolved with family consent before May 11, 2025. They also maintained that she holds records and documents that contradict Ekpo’s assertions.
With both parties presenting conflicting accounts, the matter appears headed for further legal scrutiny.
