Afrobeats singer Omah Lay has set an ambitious goal for his career, declaring his intention to become the richest African artist in history within the next few years.
The Port Harcourt-born artiste made the statement during a recent interview on Kiss Xtra, where he spoke about his creative mindset and long-term aspirations.
According to him, his drive for constant artistic expression plays a central role in his life, describing creativity as essential to his emotional balance.
“I am crazy. My head is not correct. I need to create art to feel good,” he said, emphasising the intensity of his artistic process.
Omah Lay added that his ambitions go beyond music, noting plans to develop innovative ideas and systems that he believes could have global impact.
“I am going to be the wealthiest African artiste ever in a few years. I am going to build stuff that would change the world,” he stated.
The singer, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, also reflected on the artists who have influenced his musical journey.
He listed Wizkid, Burna Boy, Drake, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, and Harry Styles as his musical inspirations.
He said these global stars have shaped his sound and artistic direction.
Omah Lay has gained widespread recognition for his blend of Afrobeats and R&B, with several hit songs and international collaborations that have expanded his audience beyond Nigeria.
