The police in Nakapiripirit district, northern Uganda, have arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the death of his wife following a domestic altercation.
The suspect, Robert Lomer, is accused of killing his wife, 36-year-old Keren Lokoru, after a family dispute escalated into a physical confrontation.
According to police, the incident occurred on April 15 at around 7:00 p.m., when a quarrel between the couple turned violent. It is alleged that Lomer subsequently confined Lokoru in their home and denied her access to medical treatment.
On the morning of April 19, concerned neighbours intervened and reportedly compelled the suspect to seek medical attention for the victim. She was taken to Moruita Brigade health centre III but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson, Mike Longole, confirmed that a murder case has since been registered at Moruita police station. Longole commended the community for intervening, although he noted that the response came too late to save the victim.
