Bayern Munich booked their place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a dramatic 4-3 victory over Real Madrid sealed a 6-4 aggregate win at the Allianz Arena.
Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Madrid fought back impressively and led three times on the night, with Arda Güler scoring twice in a blistering first half. However, Bayern matched them at every turn, with Harry Kane netting his 50th goal of the season to keep the tie finely balanced heading into the break.
The tempo dropped after half-time as both sides tightened up defensively, with the contest appearing destined for extra time. But the turning point came four minutes from time when Eduardo Camavinga was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for time-wasting following a foul on Kane.
Bayern capitalised late on, as Luis Díaz combined with Jamal Musiala before curling a deflected strike into the top corner with a minute remaining to swing the tie in their favour.
Deep into added time, Michael Olise added a fourth to seal a memorable victory on the night and confirm Bayern’s progression.
The German side will now face holders Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals, with momentum firmly on their side after one of the competition’s most thrilling encounters.
