In response to recent insecurity in Plateau State, the Delta State Government has evacuated 34 of its indigenes studying at the University of Jos following incidents that led to the suspension of academic activities at the institution.
Receiving the students, the State Director of Protocol, Sunday Onoriode, described the exercise as a necessary step taken to protect lives in the wake of the unrest.
He expressed relief that the students returned safely, assuring them of government support and encouraging them to remain calm, focused, and committed to their studies while awaiting resumption.
The Delta State Government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and safety of its indigenes studying across the country, pledging continued support during periods of crisis.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Vice President of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU), University of Jos chapter, Comrade Newton Miracle, commended the government and all stakeholders involved in the evacuation, describing the intervention as timely and reassuring.
