The families of police officers killed in a recent terrorist attack in Kebbi State are set to receive support from the state government.
Governor Nasir Idris made the pledge on Tuesday when a delegation from the Nigeria Police Force, led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Umar Shehu-Nadada, visited the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
The governor condoled the police over the deaths of the officers, who were killed in an ambush along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area while supporting other security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
Idris said the state would stand by the families of the fallen officers, stressing, “It is our tradition in Kebbi to assist the families of fallen officers who died in the line of duty. The Kebbi Government will come to the aid of the families of these officers who paid the supreme price”.
The police delegation, representing Inspector-General Olatunji Disu, assured the governor that efforts were underway to track down those responsible.
“We are not going to relent in our efforts. All the attackers will be arrested and brought to book”, the DIG said.
The police also commended the Kebbi Government for its support and announced plans to establish a new police squadron in the state to strengthen security operations.
