The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was kidnapped on August 5, 2026, at Aladere Village near Ikoyi-Ile and the Government Reserve Forest.
The Command said the successful operation highlights its commitment to protecting residents and ensuring criminal elements are denied safe havens in the state.
The rescue followed a report filed by the victim’s father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters. The Divisional Police Officer quickly deployed a joint security team comprising police operatives, Amotekun Corps members, local vigilantes and hunters to locate the victim.
The team carried out an extensive search of nearby bushes and forest areas, mounting pressure that forced the kidnappers to abandon the teenager and escape further into the reserve forest.
The victim was found unharmed and has since been reunited with his family.
Meanwhile, the police command has launched intelligence-driven operations to track down the fleeing suspects, with investigations ongoing to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the security teams for their courage, cooperation and professionalism during the operation.
He assured residents that the Command would continue to strengthen intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies to tackle violent crimes, while urging members of the public to provide credible information to support security efforts across the state.
