Chelsea forwards Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo have praised the influence of Danny Welbeck following his move to Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The duo highlighted the 35-year-old striker’s professionalism, character and positive influence both on and off the pitch.
Welbeck joined Chelsea on a two-year contract after leaving Brighton, reuniting with former teammates Pedro and Caicedo.
Speaking on Chelsea’s official website, Pedro revealed that Welbeck played an important role in helping him settle into life in England after his move from Watford.
“On a personal level, Danny is a very important person for me,” the Brazilian stated.
“When I arrived in England, I was not fluent in English, but he consistently made an effort to be there for me, providing support and aiding my development.
“This will mark the third occasion we have played together, and I believe, just as he did for me previously, he will extend his support to everyone in the squad. Danny embodies that spirit; he is incredibly helpful and genuinely wishes the best for everyone around him and for the team.
“It is well-known that he is an exceptional player. I am eager to play alongside him once more, and I believe he will be a tremendous asset to our group.”
Caicedo also welcomed Welbeck’s arrival, describing him as an important figure who can contribute to Chelsea’s success.
“When he arrived here, I embraced him because I was thrilled about his signing,” the midfielder recounted.
“As both a player and an individual, Danny is outstanding. He provided me with significant assistance when I first came to Brighton. His presence at Chelsea is reassuring. I am genuinely pleased to have him here, and he will undoubtedly be a great help to us. With his mindset, he possesses everything necessary and will be crucial for our success,” he added.
Welbeck made his Chelsea debut during their pre-season clash with Juventus on Wednesday, August 5, featuring in the first half of the Blues’ 1-0 defeat. The striker recorded one shot and earned a 6.7 rating from Sofascore.
