Nigerian singer Zinoleesky has triggered widespread speculation about a possible split from his record label boss, Naira Marley, after posting a message that suggested artistes under the industry’s power structures are being exploited.
The post, shared on his Instagram Story on Saturday, saw the Marlian Records act declare that he was speaking out not just for himself but for every artiste who has ever felt “powerless or taken advantage of.”
“We deserve better. We deserve transparency, fairness and respect,” he wrote, sparking instant debate across social media platforms.
The statement has reignited conversations surrounding the death of Zinoleesky’s former labelmate Mohbad, who repeatedly accused Naira Marley and associates of mistreatment before his passing two years ago.
With fans drawing parallels between Mohbad’s earlier claims and Zinoleesky’s new comments, many are questioning whether the singer is signalling an imminent departure from Marlian Records, where he has been signed since December 2019.
The label and its founder are yet to release an official statement in response to the growing speculation.
