Brazilian football legend Arthur Antunes Coimbra, popularly known as Zico, has named Nigeria’s Austin Jay-Jay Okocha and Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o among the four greatest African footballers of all time.
Speaking during interview hosted by former Chelsea star John Obi Mikel and Chris McHardy in Rio de Janeiro, Zico praised Okocha’s flair and creativity, describing him as a “fantastic player.”
When asked to name the best African footballer ever, Zico said:
“I like Okocha — a fantastic player. Number 10, Okocha. Eto’o, fantastic. George Weah and Drogba.”
All four players — Okocha, Eto’o, Weah, and Drogba — are now retired but remain celebrated icons of African football.
They starred for top European clubs including Chelsea, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Manchester City, and Bolton Wanderers, leaving an enduring legacy on the global stage.
